Project Description

CHIROPRACTOR

Chiropractic is a regulated health care profession that serves to diagnose, treat, and help prevent disorders and conditions related to the spine, nervous system, and musculoskeletal system. It is a non-invasive, hands-on technique that focuses on treating muscles, joints and nerves of the body.

Chiropractors in North York use a variety of treatment and techniques including, manipulation, modalities, exercise, nutritional, lifestyle and dietary counseling. Each patients treatment is tailored to their specific condition and needs.

Chiropractic care is used to treat conditions such as low back pain, neck pain and headaches. Patients with injuries seek chiropractic care for their muscle, joint or nerve symptoms. Chiropractic care is also used for symptomatic relief of certain chronic conditions, such as Osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis.

Who should see a chiropractor?

People who suffer pain from workplace or motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, stress, and even everyday activities should seek chiropractic care for treatment and pain relief. Patients do not require a referral to see a chiropractor.

What happens during a chiropractic visit?

On your first visit, patients should arrive 10 minutes prior to their scheduled appointment to fill out preliminary paperwork. This will indicate to the chiropractor why you are seeking care. The chiropractor will then use a variety of diagnostic techniques, including a thorough clinical history, physical examination, and X-rays if necessary. Once the patient’s condition is assessed, the chiropractor will recommend and discuss the optimal treatment, as well as some alternative treatment options.

The primary treatment used by chiropractors is a chiropractic adjustment (spinal manipulation). This is a gentle, controlled, and directed movement that helps to restore the spine’s mobility and ability to function normally.

North York Chiropractors will also use therapies that may include joint mobilization, soft-tissue therapies (such as myofacial release therapy [MRT] and trigger-point therapy), medical acupuncture, electrotherapy, heat, cold and therapeutic exercises as treatment methods. They may also provide nutritional, dietary, and lifestyle counseling. They do not treat patients with drugs or surgery.

Is Chiropractic treatment safe?

Chiropractic is recognized as one of the safest, drug-free, non-invasive therapies available for the treatment of muscle, joint and nerve pain, including headaches, neck and back pain. It has an excellent safety record. However, no health treatment is completely free of potential adverse effects. Even common over-the-counter medications carry risk.

During your first visit, your chiropractor will discuss treatment options, their benefits and potential risks before administering any treatment.

Will the chiropractor take X-rays?

In most cases x-rays are not necessary. Your chiropractor will determine if x-rays are necessary.

How long will I need treatment?

Every case is different, however many patients report improvements in their condition after just a few chiropractic treatments. ARC Health & Wellness Toronto chiropractor will assess the patient at every appointment and make changes to the patient’s treatment plan as required.

Is my treatment covered by insurance?

The majority of workers have partial to full coverage for chiropractic health. Insurance plans such as extended health plans or vehicle insurance also provide coverage for chiropractic treatments. North York’s ARC Health & Wellness will provide patients with detailed receipts for chiropractic services which can be presented to insurance companies for reimbursement.

Your North York chiropractor is complemented by physiotherapy, registered massage therapyacupuncture, taping, custom orthotics, shockwave, dry needling and bracing.
